Now the big news…voting on twelve possible topics for our next study, the group has chosen:Exploring Roots of Religion-36 Lectures-DVD-Prof. John Hale
Beginning with Neanderthals, shamans, mother goddess, megaliths and proceeding through Sumeria, China, Petra, Druids and Vikings, this is a sweeping overview of early religious behavior from all over the world: Peru, Scandinavia, Egypt, Greece, Mexico, North America’s indigenous peoples, Stonehenge, Zoroasterism in Iran, Easter Island, Rome, India and more, with a summation of faiths lost and found. Fascinating!
This is religion, history, archaeology and philosophy all rolled into one. How did the great religions of the world begin and how have they morphed and survived? What other religions came before and why did they die out? How did certain cultures create and affect their religious beliefs? All shall be answered as we enter the very broad topic of Roots of Religion. Friends who are interested are cordially invited!
We begin on September 13, 10:00 am in the library.
